Made with Soil Baker

Founded by Hye Rin Yang, a South Korean female ceramicist.

Each piece in this collection is crafted from natural Korean soils and draws upon the rich history of Yeoju, a city known for its rich ceramic history; artists have been producing here since 918 AD.

Made with human hands

The designs for these pieces were hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel. From there, human hands are involved in every step of making each ceramic piece—from pulling the iron to firing the kiln.

Each piece is hand-finished, and as such, one-of-a-kind and imperfect.

Made for food

The story of Soil Baker begins at the intersection of food and design: Hye Rin studied product design at Parsons and interned at the famed Eleven Madison Park in her off hours; later, she studied at the Institute of Culinary Education. As such, she always thinks about the balance between culinary and design, and how they ought to serve one another.

Made to last

Despite ceramics’ delicate reputation, ours are lightweight yet sturdy enough for everyday use, as well as dishwasher- and microwave-safe.
