The Serrated 6" Knife

Rated 4.9 out of 5
Based on 59 reviews

As seen in Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. Much more than a bread knife, our 6” serrated is appropriately-sized for smoother slicing of tomatoes, peaches, chocolate, melon, cake, and more. Plus, it’s got a wavy Japanese steel blade unlike any other.

The Serrated 6" Knife

Catch the wave

A knife is only as good as the precision of its cut. Our serrated knife is wavy-toothed, for a cleaner, crisper cut than your average knife. Its pointed, Santoku-inspired tip is perfect for piercing soft-skinned veggies with exactitude.

Top-heavy knives cause hand-cramping. Our blade is a full tang: it extends into the handle, so weight is better distributed, and won’t break under pressure.

At finishing, each knife is hand-polished, then heat-treated at 300°F before being cryogenically tempered at a well-beyond freezing -250°. This process alters the structure of the steel on a molecular level, making it harder, sharper, and more durable.

We integrated the classic oval shape of Japanese handles into our design, but used an innovative, stain-resistant composite material in a matte finish to make ours firm and slightly grippy, for safe and confident chopping.

Joie de vivre

Long story. My dear son gifted me the 8” and the almost 4” Material knives with Almost Black handles. It was love at first sight. And it was love at first use, also. These quality knives are not only stunningly beautiful, but also comfortable to hold and razor sharp. But, then I knew I needed a serrated knife as well. When I went searching, lo and behold, Material had the perfect third knife for my new set. I also discovered they have a very affordable, precise 13° knife sharpener specifically for these fine blades. It was a good opportunity to invest in both and earn free shipping, too. Great tools deserve proper care and maintenance. I’m grateful Material understands that. My culinary modus vivendi and joy in the kitchen have been immeasurably improved. Thank you Material Kitchen.

P. S. My own investment in this amazing serrated knife showed my son more than words could express just how much I appreciate his wonderful gift.

Great knife. Good size and balance. Multiple uses including as a bread knife. Comparable in quality to my Shuns. Very pleased.

Perfect size

Len the ofblde is perfect and the knife is nicely balanced in the hand. It is not as sharp as my longer Henkel. And doesn’t cut bread or cheese with the same ease as my knives with smaller serrations.
