Constructed to perfection.

Ours knives have three layers of Japanese stainless steel and high carbon for unmatched strength and easy-to-care-for resilience. At finishing, each knife is heat-treated at 300F before it's cryogenically tempered at -250F, altering the structure of the steel on a molecular level, making it harder, sharper, and more durable.

Our blade is a full tang: it extends into the handle so it won't break under pressure and weight is better distributed. The result? An even balance at the bolster for that “feels just right in your hand” sensation.

We integrated the classic oval shape of Japanese handles into our design but used an innovative, stain-resistant composite in a matte finish to make ours firm and slightly grippy, for safe and confident chopping.

Smart storage is also key to a long knife life, which is why we designed The Stand to preserve and show off our knives. The hidden magnet means that you won’t dull your blades by sliding your knives into the slits in those clunky traditional knife blocks. It’s also much easier to clean.

Magnetized walls on both sides of The Stand allow storage of up to eight knives of varying sizes. It is heavy enough to be sturdy, keeping your knives stowed safely, and is made exclusively with FSC-certified wood.

the Goldilocks set

This set is truly perfect, as advertised; not to little, not too much. So far I have only used the serrated knife

(Translation: we have been eating bread and cheese this week). It chops extra aged cheddar with as much ease as a croissant. Speaking of croissants, asiago croissants are incroyable!

I really appreciate the balance of Material knives. They are lightweight, yet hefty enough to not slip out of even the tinniest hand. Cutting with them is like performing surgery. The smooth handles don’t chafe, but also grip. I cannot wait to try the other two knives in the set

mind-blowingly good knife set

these knives are so solid and well-made! I can tell I'll be reaching for them as much in the next several years as I have in the week since I got them. each one has a very satisfying heft, they just feel good in my hands.
