Our foray into tabletop is one that’s meant to elevate small, everyday moments, and to make people comfortable at the table, so they can pull up a seat and stay a while.
Dining together is an intimate tradition, and we wanted our first dining offering to feel personal. Thus, we partnered with Soil Baker, Hye Rin Yang, a South Korean female ceramicist who blends expert culinary and design expertise into timeless, long-lasting pieces.
Human hands are involved in every step of the making. Each design was hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel and fired using traditional techniques, drawing upon the age-old craftsmanship of Yeoju, South Korea, where artisans have been producing ceramics since 918 AD.
The clay for our collection is drawn from numerous soils (Dune, three, and Grotto, five) for a clay blend that was invented by Soil Baker craftsmen, exclusively for us. The result is a versatile color depth that changes in various light - simple enough to let your food stand out, yet detailed enough to warrant a second look.
Despite ceramics’ delicate reputation, ours are lightweight yet sturdy enough for everyday use, as well as dishwasher- and microwave-safe.
